Healthcare

World-class healthcare has never been far away, whether at WakeMed, UNC Hospitals, or Duke Medicine.  Each of these healthcare providers now offer many of their world-class services in state-of-the-art facilities within the Town of Knightdale.  In addition to the services offered by the three major health systems, Knightdale is also home to several local private family practices, pediatrician, optometrists, dentists and orthodontists, chiropractors, physical therapists, urgent care providers and more.  Quality healthcare with hometown service for you and your family are just moments away from your door step.

In 2009, access became even easier with Duke Health and Rex Healthcare (a division of UNC Hospitals) both opening regional facilities in Knightdale.

In addition, Knightdale Medical Center opened in 2009, featuring a variety of medical services for patients in the area, including a family practice with labs and radiology services, cardiology, urology, and ENT specialists, and a vein clinic.


Major Medical Facilities


The new Duke Medical Plaza Knightdale, opened in 2009, is the most recent addition to the Duke Health network of facilities, all boasting in Duke reputation as one of the nation's best for providing outstanding healthcare.  This 40,000 square-foot cutting-edge medical facility offers primary care, urgent care, gastroenterology, pulmonology, cardiology, orthopedics, imaging services, and physical therapy.

Nearby Duke Raleigh Hospital is a 186-bed facility on Wake Forest Road in North Raleigh just off I-440 West.  A full-service acute care hospital, Duke Raleigh's range of services includes intensive and critical care, neuro step-down unit, comprehensive cancer services, orthopaedic center, and cardiovascular services.  The hospital also offers physical rehabilitation, diabetes treatment program, wound healing, hyperbaric medicine, sleep center, and community and health education programs.


Rex Healthcare's new facility in Knightdale offers express care, a family practice, a sleep disorder center, a wound care center, diagnostic laboratory, imaging services (including digital mammography), and both a general surgery practice and orthopedic practice.  This facility is the latest in a host of Rex facilities located around the Triangle area, all a part of, and carrying the outstanding reputation of the UNC Health Care system.

Rex Healthcare is a private, not-for-profit healthcare system that has provided superior care to Wake County and surrounding area since 1894.  The main Rex Hospital campus, located on Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh, includes a family birth center, cancer center, convalescent care center, same day surgery center, heart & vascular center, and wellness center.  Rex Hospital also includes dedicated clinics for pain management, sleep disorders, and a state-of-the-art emergency services department.

Further, Rex offers a comprehensive campus located at the corner of Cary Parkway, Rex Healthcare of Cary and Lake Pine Drive, Rex Healthcare of Wakefield.


One of the first hospital systems in the country, WakeMed Health & Hospitals is a private, not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Raleigh.  The 870-bed system comprises a network of healthcare facilities throughout Wake and Johnston counties, including: a Level I Trama Center and tertiary referral hospital and rehabilitation hospital in Raleigh, a community hospital in Cary, comprehensive outpatient centers and freestanding emergency departments in North Raleigh and Apex, seven outpatient rehabilitation sites, two skilled-nursing and outpatient facilities, a 100+ physician multi-specialty practice, and home health services.  The system includes accredited Chest Pain Centers and Joint Commission-certified Stroke Centers.
